The peoples of Tatarstan and Turkmenistan share a deep reverence for the horse as a faithful companion, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov stated in a congratulatory letter to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of the National Turkmen Horse Day, TDH reports.
Minnikhanov called Tatarstan one of the key breeding centers for Akhal-Teke horses in Russia, noting that their grace and endurance invariably attract thousands of spectators to the Kazan Hippodrome.
He also noted that the current year in Turkmenistan is being held under the motto "Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the homeland of purposeful winged stallions," which reflects the country's commitment to the principles of independence and permanent neutrality.
The head of Tatarstan emphasized that he shares the joy of the holiday with the fraternal people of Turkmenistan and wished Serdar Berdimuhamedov, his family, and the people of Turkmenistan good health and prosperity.
The National Day of the Turkmen Horse is celebrated in Turkmenistan annually on the last Sunday of April.
